Q1: What is the cost to file documents in real property records?
A: All documents must have original signatures.

        $5.00 First page

        $4.00 Each additional page

        $5.00 Archival fee

        $5.00 Preservation fee

        $1.00 Courthouse security fee

A: No

 

 

 

Q4: Can I file a deed at a branch location?
A: No. A release of lien can be accepted at our branch location and transported to the downtown office within 5 work days.

Q7: What is the cost to obtain a copy of a document that is on record?
A: Non-Certified copy - $1.00 per page

            Certified copy ----- $5.00 certification +

                                            $1.00 per page

 

 

 

Q8: What type of payment?
A: Personal checks are not accepted through the mail. Money orders or cashier's checks made payable to Beverly Kaufman, Harris County Clerk should be sent through the mail. Personal checks are accepted when brought into the office with proper identification and the check is drawn on a local bank. Credit cards are also anoth valid form of payment.

 

 

 

Q9: How do you get an Abstract of Judgment?
A: Request the Abstract of Judgment from the court where the judgment was filed and then record it in the Real Property Records. The Abstract of Judgment must include the plantiff's mailing address. See Property Code 52.0041.

 

 

 

Q10: How do you file a lien?
A: Check with your attorney. After the lien has been prepared, then it must be filed in the Real Property Records.

 

 

 

Q11: How do you transfer property?
A: Check with your attorney or title company to have a new deed prepared. Then the deed must be filed in the Real Property Records. The grantee's mailing address should be shown on the deed. See Property Code 11.003.

 

 

 

Q12:What is the cost to file a UCC-1 and UCC-3?
A: The fee for filing UCCs in the real property records has been changed to the recording fees under Local Government Code 118.011(a)(2) and (b)(2), effective July 1, 2001.

As per the Texas Business and Commerce Code, Section 9.501, effective July 1, 2001 Financing Statements (UCC) will no longer be filed in the County Clerk's UCC Records. They will need to be filed with the Secretary of State's office. This does not affect Financing Statements file in the County Clerk's Real Estate Records.
