PROBATE

The Probate Department serves as the clerk for the four Probate Courts in Harris County. As the clerk of the Probate Courts, this department is responsible for maintaining the court records for probate of wills, guardianships (incapacitated and minors), administrations, heirships, the mentally ill, wills for safekeeping and custodian of funds being held in the clerk’s registry on behalf of estates and minors.

The office hours are 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday. The department’s main number is (713)755-6425. The late filing drop box is located on the outside wall (to the left of the front entrance) of the County Civil Building.
